In terms of leveling, you can level on 2 and then on 4 or on 3 and on 4, don't stay too much on 1 but try to play according to what shops you're getting to maximize the number of hero powers used. Don't be too greedy with the triples, if you're losing a lot of fights it's okay to take a 3 or a 4 drop instead of going for 5 or 6's.
