Start the game with the intention of playing pirates but don’t force them if you get very little to none.I like leveling on 2 because Ripsnarl is so powerful and also going to 3 fast because of the powerful pirates there. Super good with Doubloon Grifter and Coast Guard because you can get a lot of value while buying the entire shop!

Most of the time the gold reduction can be used to make buying cheap spells possible while otherwise playing a rather normal and boring game. If that cannot be achieved don't get baited by randomly buying pirates. Great Synergy with [[Doubloon Grifter||
